TWO police officers and a social worker were rushed to hospital last night after they were slashed by a knifeman in North London.
It's understood the61-year-old social worker had been checking on children when the chaos unfolded - with cops rushing to the block of flats.
But while in the communal area of the flats, the Haringey Council social worker was stabbed multiple times.
The two cops then rushed to try to restrain the attacker but were slashed in the chaos at the flats in Wood Green about 7.20pm yesterday.
Met Police today confirmed a 33-year-old man had been arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.
Another two men nearby were also arrested.
The injured social worker now remains in hospital however his injuries are not life-threatening.
The police officers have since been discharged from hospital with the cops and social worker praised for their bravery.
Chief Superintendent Treena Fleming, policing commander for Haringey and Enfield, said: “Social workers play a vital role in ensuring that vulnerable people in our community, including children, are safe and protected.
“I would also like to pay tribute to the two officers who came to the aid of the victim in this incident, sustaining knife wounds themselves as they did so.
"I’m pleased that they have been able to leave hospital and we will make sure they have our full support as they recover from what would have been a traumatic experience."
The children involved in the incident have been supported.
