Police responding to reports of shots fired at the major US airport discovered two bodies slumped on the tarmac
A MYSTERY gunman has shot dead two people in the car park of one of the busiest airports in the US.
The massacre occurred earlier today in the employee lot of Miami International Airport, it was reported.
A media helicopter flying over the scene showed a body covered by a tarp remained in the position where it was found.
The airport released a statement confirming the shooting had occurred.
Mark Henderson, a spokesperson for the airport, said it had not disrupted flights and the parking lot is currently open.
A tweet from its official account said: "This a.m., there was a shooting in the employee parking lot, 2 fatalities.
"Lot open & no impact to airport operations. @MiamiDadePD on scene."
Police say detectives and forensic teams are currently working at the scene.
