Mining firm defends bizarre BIKINI video promoting their plans to dig for minerals in Canada
Strange but saucy promo sees a blonde model wiggling her bum while talking about chromite
A BIZARRE video that features bikini-clad women promoting a Canadian mining company has been panned as "laughable".
Mining firm KWG Resources made the promo in which two smiley semi-naked women talk about the virtues of its plan to explore in Ontario's 'Ring of Fire' region.
The video sees model Theresa Longo appear alongside another woman, known only as Ashley, in a series of saucy scenes.
They deliver "five interesting facts" about the region, all of which are centred around its mining potential.
An environmental group opposed to the company's plans to carve up the area said the video was laughable.
But when confronted with the criticism, KWG president Frank Smeenk said: "Sex sells".
Theresa and "special guest co-host" Ashley can be seen giving dry mining facts about the Ring of Fire -- a mostly inaccessible region in the northern Ontario.
Each fact is delivered by one of the women doing a different activity.
One scene shows Theresa wiggling her bum as she stands at a barbecue talking about minerals.
Anna Baggio, the director of conservation planning for environmental group the Wildlands League, said: "I had to laugh out loud, but not in a good way.
"I'm not sure that this kind of thinking from another era is something we want in 2016", reports.
She said the "retro attitudes" on show in the video are representative of the company's backwards thinking on the environment.
But KWG says actor and model Theresa approached them to make the clips.
They also argued her presence could invite more young people to take an interest in the company's work.
"This young lady, as an actress, has 70,000-odd followers on Twitter.
That's a bigger audience, and as an old guy I'm trying to reach that younger audience," Mr Smeenk said.
Viewers have been left baffled by the clip.
One commentator on YouTube said: "Holy s**t, what the f**k was that?"
Another joked: "Cute, funny, informative. Classy. Nothin' wrong here."
