Ambush on Iraqi Defence Minister Khaled al-Obeidi near Mosul has been called an ‘assassination attempt’

DRAMATIC footage shows ISIS terror thugs being fought off by machine gun fire – following an ambush on the Iraqi Defence Minister’s convoy.

The failed “assassination attempt” took place near Mosul, north Iraq, a stronghold of the depraved death cult.

Iraqi Minister Khaled al-Obeidi was travelling to the Qayyarah airbase to visit troops on Monday when his convoy was attacked by mortar fire.

The incredible footage shows brave soldiers fighting off the brainwashed ISIS killers as they swarm on the vehicles.

There were reportedly no casualties or injuries following the sneak assault.

In a statement, the Iraqi Defence Ministry called the ambush an “assassination attempt” and confirmed that Al-Obeidi was not harmed, according to news outlet the Anadolu Agency.

The agency’s report did not confirm if the attackers were ISIS.

However, the Iraqi ministry said the incident happened near the Imam Gharbi village which is close to an area held by the warped terror group.

reports that the incredible footage was posted on Facebook before it was released to the media by Iraqi authorities.

The report says Iraqi soldiers had recently established a defence in the south of Mosul in their bid to dislodge ISIS from the area.
