Apprentice star Alana Spencer’s luxury cake cafe given 1 STAR hygiene rating
APPRENTICE winner Alana Spencer’s luxury cake cafe has been slammed for poor hygiene.
The entrepreneur, 29, was handed a grim one star out of five for her new Ridiculously Rich diner in Cardiff.
Food safety inspectors ruled huge improvements were needed after the surprise spot-check in June.
But Spencer, who won a £250,000 cash injection for her business from Lord Sugar in 2016, branded the rating “unfair”.
Inspectors found “major non-compliance” with food safety rules and said it had “little confidence” in the management.
Hygiene was rated "poor" with inspectors demanding "more effort" to prevent a further fall in standards".
Council bosses last night refused to release the full report despite a request from The Sun.
They said they were now planning a revisit to inspect progress.

But commenting on the low ranking on Facebook, Spencer said: "As many food businesses will tell you this can be a very misleading and unfair system and you can rest assured that this is no reflection on how clean my premises are.
“This situation will be resolved imminently."
Spencer toasted Champagne with Lord Sugar after winning the 12th series over the hit BBC One show.
But in 2019, The Sun revealed the tycoon had parted ways with Spencer and her cake brand.
Lord Sugar said the split was amicable, adding: "She's a good girl. I wish her all the luck."
Spencer, who started her first business making greeting cards aged 14, now has four cafes in Wales and runs a home delivery service.
Her dessert shop in Llandudno was blasted over its “tacky” design when it opened in May - with some locals comparing it to public loos.
And in 2017 an allergy clanger led to her cake company recalling some packs because they had no warning.
Some in the Ridiculously Rich by Alana range had not listed potential allergens such as peanuts, eggs or soya adequately.
The Food Standards Agency said it made them a "possible health risk".
When approached by The Sun, Spencer said she was shocked by Vale of Glamorgan council officials' grading.
She insisted: "There was an administrative error in our paperwork.
