Joyous civilians celebrate on the streets of Manbij in north Syria after being liberated from ISIS

The Syrian Democratic Forces, backed by US airstrikes, battled the death cult for 73 days before the extremists finally fled

OVERJOYED civilians take to the streets in celebration as the town of Manbij in north Syria is liberated from sick terror group ISIS.

Woman and children are pictures laughing, and crying tears of joy, after U.S backed forces seized full control of the city which was infiltrated by the extremist militants since 2014.

Manbij is located near the Turkish border meaning the death cult’s route to Europe has been severely restricted.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) coalition, containing Kurdish and Arab fighters, fought the brainwashed killers for 73 days and freed 2,000 civilians who were reportedly being used as human shields during the dying embers of the conflict.

The town was of strategic importance to ISIS, not just its proximity to Turkey, but it also connected to Syrian second city Aleppo and capital Raqqa.

Speaking with the BBC, Syrian Kurdish leader Salih Muslim said: “After the liberation of Manbij, IS members won't be able to freely travel to and from Europe anymore.”

The SDF’s heroic assault on ISIS was backed up US-led air strikes.

EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini said: “(ISIS) pose a threat to the people of Syria, Iraq, the region as well as to Europe and beyond.

"The recent military advances against Da'esh [IS] by the Global Coalition together with the Syrian Democratic Forces in North West Syria are welcome and the EU will continue to commit its efforts, as part of the Coalition, to its non-military fields of activity.”

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, around 500 cars fled war torn Manbij carrying ISIS thugs and civilians.

The brainwashed killers headed north-east to Jarablus which is another militant controlled town near the Turkish border.

Sharfan Darwish, of the SDF allied Manbij Military Council, said: "The city is now fully under our control but we are undertaking sweeping operations.”
