Serial killer Peter Sutcliffe could face new trial as cops probe 13 attacks on women
Police basing investigation on new DNA evidence and victim statements
INVESTIGATORS are considering whether the Yorkshire Ripper should face a new trial - after allegations he attacked another 13 women.
Police are thought to be just weeks away from liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service to bring new charges against 70-year-old Peter Sutcliffe.
He was originally handed 20 life sentences in 1981 over the murder of 13 women and attempted murder of seven more.
Now fresh charges are being considered against Sutcliffe in light of new DNA evidence and victim statements.
One family member of a victim told the : "They asked her to give a new statement and took a sample.
"They said science had evolved and that they were looking at 13 other cases.
"They were asking a lot of questions. The police were telling her he could end up back in court."
Another of the alleged victims added: "The police came to visit me saying it was a review of Peter Sutcliffe's cases. They were very thorough."
Only today, The Sun reported how twisted Sutcliffe had whined about prison staff seizing his £5,000 Rolex watch - sent to him by his brother Mick.
Bosses at the high security Broadmoor hospital confiscated it in case other patients see it and get upset.
A source said: “Sutcliffe moaned he wasn’t allowed the Rolex and was furious when he saw a member of staff had one.
“He said that was unfair and breached his rights, but if other patients spotted him wearing a Rolex it would cause problems.
“But the fact that he was even sent it shows the kind of life he has been enjoying.”
The Sun told last week that Sutcliffe is set to be sent to tough HMP Frankland, Co Durham, after 32 years in Broadmoor.
A tribunal ruled he no longer needed mental health treatment.
Since then, we can reveal, he has barely slept out of fear for the future and has vowed to stop taking his anti-psychotic medication to try to dodge the expected transfer.
The serial killer fears the jail switch will mean he goes blind and bleated about how he is worried he will miss the next series of TV series Vikings.
The source added: “He is terrified and says he has been sick every time he eats and been unable to sleep since he got the news on Thursday.
“It has left him in a bad way and he is literally sick with worry.
“He is most worried about not having a TV in jail, like the one he has at Broadmoor.
“He also had a boxset of Vikings confiscated, but was allowed it after requesting it from the stores department.
“He has now seen the first three series of Vikings on DVD, but he is worried about not being able watch the next one which is out in America at the moment.
“It just goes to show how cushy his life has been at Broadmoor – and how tough he will find it when he is chucked back in jail.”
Sutcliffe spent three years in jail before transfer to the hospital after being declared paranoid schizophrenic.
He will never be released.
