The revelation came after just seven minutes of questioning by the defence barrister.

The dad was acquitted of eight counts of incestuous rape.

The daughter, aged under 18, claimed he had ruined her life by being too strict.

Barrister Cathy McCulloch asked the girl about “striking similarities” between her statement to cops and passages from E.L. James’ bestseller — which was also a film.

She wrote on a blog after the trial: “She described not only what her father had allegedly done, but how her body felt as a result.”

Mrs McCulloch said the use of certain words, phrases and descriptions seemed “beyond the girl’s years”.

She revealed that the discovery came after she asked her client if his daughter had a favourite book.

The unwitting dad said the girl liked one “about a young woman who meets a millionaire, who takes her under his wing to teach her about art”.

Mrs McCulloch said: “I haven’t read it, but recognised it as Fifty Shades of Grey. I asked my solicitor to get a copy.”
