Driver in 125mph police chase with baby and five-year-old in car detained for six months
A YOUNG dad who drove dangerously at speeds of up to 125mph with two young children in his car has been detained for six months.
Kieran Hayward sped through residential streets in a bid to escape cops with his girlfriend, nine-week-old daughter and five-year-old niece in the car, Gloucester Crown Court heard.
The 21-year-old had been stopped earlier for sporting a wrongly configured number plate, but when cops spotted him driving again moments later he gave chase, speeding through back streets in Gloucester before turning onto a dual carriageway.
The hooligan, who was eventually caught at a roundabout when traffic stopped, admitted dangerous driving and having no insurance in court.

Speaking on the case, prosecutor Susan Cavender said: “Perhaps most shocking of all in this case was in that in the back seat of the car were two children.
“A five year old who was not properly restrained in a suitable seat and a nine week old baby.
“That was extremely dangerous, without a shadow of a doubt.”
Judge Michael Cullum handed Hayward a custodial sentence for such a bad case of dangerous driving, even though he said it pained him to do so in front of the 21-year-old’s family.
He reasoned: “This could easily have had a tragic outcome for you, your baby, your niece, your partner and anyone in your way.
“The most shocking element was the presence of those for whom you presumably care – your partner and even more so the infant in the back.”
Hayward has also been banned from driving for two years and three months.
In an interview, Hayward said he sparked the chase because he knew he didn’t have car insurance for the vehicle, which belonged to his girlfriend.
The 21-year-old said he had been driving because his partner had a painful leg, and he was dropping her at the GP at the time of the chase.
