Hunt for gunman after man is shot in the chest at Windsor music festival
The man, who only realised he had been shot after hearing the noise, was in a stable condition in hospital
A GUNMAN was being hunted last night after a man was shot in the chest in a music festival’s VIP tent.
The incident followed reports of a disturbance on a dancefloor.
Police said the 27-year-old victim heard a “cap gun” sound in the exclusive area of the Tea Party Festival at Windsor racecourse, Berks, about 8.30pm on Saturday.
The man, who only realised he had been shot after hearing the noise, was in a stable condition in hospital last night.
Police said the gunman was wanted on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
Detectives who were appealing for further witnesses to come forward with information said the gun was fired at a time when the VIP tent would have been full of people.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Tom Parker, from Maidenhead Force Criminal Investigation Department, said: "A team of detectives is investigating this incident in which a firearm was discharged, leaving a man injured. This appears to be an isolated incident however this took place during the popular Tea Party Festival.
"I would like to appeal to anyone who was there who witnessed the incident to contact police, particularly if you have any photographs or video footage, which you may have taken on your mobile phone, of what happened.
"This occurred when the VIP tent would have been busy, so if you were there and took a photo you may have captured the incident.
"Any information you have, no matter how insignificant you believe it may be, could be important to the investigation so please come forward if you have any details."
The festival was billed as hosting some of the biggest names in dance music, with VIP tickets costing £40.
