Fed-up villager places ad in newspaper suggesting STERILISATION for anyone who drops rubbish

A DISGRUNTLED villager has placed a newspaper ad calling for anyone dropping litter to be CASTRATED.

The advert offers "free sterilisation" to litterbugs who toss their garbage around a picturesque holiday town.

Portreath, Cornwall, which only has a population of 1,400, has been plagued by holidaymakers leaving rubbish behind.

The anonymous advert in local paper West Briton reads: "FREE STERILISATION for anyone who throws their rubbish out of their car windows whilst parked at Tregea Hill, Portreath. Contact your GP and do your bit for society."

Portreath Parish Council said it sympathised with the irate local over the "frustrating" litter problem.

Chairman Chris Watts said: "Littering is an ongoing issue in some parts of the village.

"Portreath is hit by large amounts of rubbish every time the sun comes out, as regular as clockwork.

"We employ a litter picker once a week, but unfortunately we can't afford him every day and he is fighting a losing battle.

"In winter we don't have as much of a litter problem, it's more about dog mess.

"Some visitors don't seem to bother looking for bins which is extremely annoying because there are plenty in Portreath and they are all emptied regularly.

"It is a constant, ongoing problem."

In July, a swanky hotel that charges guests up to £1,500 each night has been accused of sexism after they advertised for a porter but said it was “not a role for ladies”.

Whatley Manor, a five-star retreat in the Cotswolds, stuck the controversial notice up in the window of their local Post Office.

The ad read: “We are seeking people with driving licenses to join the team of front of house porters. The work involves moving luggage, moving cars, tending fires, generally taking deliveries, keeping the reception area tidy.”

At the end of the job description it says: “Sorry, it’s just not a role for ladies.”

Bosses at the award-winning getaway in Malmesbury, Wiltshire said the advert was not supposed to offend.
