CAT KILLER STRIKES AGAIN

M25 Cat Ripper – who’s killed over 100 moggies across London – butchers five more pets in two days

Charity urges owners to keep cats inside, as more mutilated bodies are found - with heads, tails and paws missing

A CAT killer has struck again with five more chopped up moggies being discovered  — taking the toll to more than 100.

Most have been discovered dumped in and around the M25 with body parts missing, although cases have been reported as far away as the Isle of Wight.

The latest murders occurred between August 10 and 12, in Bromley, Bexley and Coulsdon in South London, Dartford in Kent, and Warlingham, Surrey.

Boudicca Rising, co-chairman of South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty, who is working on the case with the RSPCA and the Met Police, says the killer seems to be stepping up their campaign.

She and partner Tony Jenkins picked up four of the five cat's bodies, while police officers picked up the last from Warlingham, Surrey.

Miss Rising, co-founder of the charity, said all the bodies bore the hallmarks of the M25 cat killer, who is reported to behead the animals, or cut off and keep their tails or paws as trophies.

Writing on Facebook, she said the killer was 'probably' someone who travelled a lot for work - like a travelling salesman.

She said: "This spree matches a spree earlier this year where we had two weekends of bodies across London.

"Four of these bodies have been found in south London. Please get your cats indoors at night.

"We know it's difficult and many don't like it but right at this moment we have an offender who is back in the south London area and able to get hold of cats easily because they have been left out.

"We cannot predict where he will strike next and we are expecting him to kill again.

She added: "Every bit of physical evidence points to one offender who travels a lot probably for work.

"He is operating over a large area but having travelled these distances ourselves in his wake its easy enough to do in fairly short time periods.

"If you see someone behaving oddly with a cat, particularly coaxing it or hurting it dial 999 straight away and call us afterwards.

"Get registration numbers, the person's description, but do NOT approach the person. Let the police deal with it.

"Anyone who decides to take the law into their own hands will not be treated favourably by us or the police so don't be tempted. You may well be hurting someone perfectly innocent."

Co-founder Tony Jenkins said: “We believe it is one person as the injuries are always in the same place and if you told five people to kill a cat, they would all do it different ways.

“The bodies are often found on the owner’s doorsteps or at a neighbour’s house.

“We believe this individual returns the cat to where he has found them to cause maximum pain to these families.”

Cops, who have a team of officers working on the case, have spent £40,000 hunting down the fiend - dubbed the M25 or Croydon Cat Killer.

Police confirmed that it believes the deaths were deliberately caused by a human - rather than being run down by a car or killed by foxes.

Detective Sergeant Andy Collin, who is leading the investigation, said that cats were attacked with a sharp blade, believed to be a machete or a knife.

He also said that it was 'very likely' that 'up to 50 cats' had been killed by the same person - although some reports put the number closer to 100.
