YouTube launches scheme to help budding British web celebs hit the bigtime

Youtube has opened a brand new studio in London which will offer budding web celebs free access to state of the art broadcast equipment.

The video website's facility is called Space and the second largest YouTube facility in the world.

It will allow members of the public to use expensive tech which lets them transmit video streams in high resolution 4K or shoot with virtual reality cameras.

YouTube opened the facility today at a glittering ceremony attended by the British "celebrities of today" including Marcus Butler, Niomi Smart, Casper Lee and Louise Pentland.

Ben McOwen Wilson, YouTube director, said: “The huge breadth of talent creating content on YouTube in the UK speaks to a hugely vibrant and dynamic creative community. Video creators are today’s big stars and they are passionate, entrepreneurial and tech-forward.

"As the biggest Space in Europe, the YouTube Space London is a reflection of the coming-of-age of this community and an investment in its future success. I can’t wait to watch the content that’s produced there.”
