A GIANT bull has been captured on film going on a rampage after goring a seven-year-old girl during a festival.

Startling footage shows residents in the Spanish town of Alfamén,  Zaragoza standing on the top of parked cars to escape the rampaging beast.

The girl had earlier been struck in the buttocks and abdomen by the animal, which had smashed its way out of an enclosure.

The accident happened just before the running of young bulls through the streets of the village.

The girl was savaged twice but hid under a parked car until medical help arrived.

She was taken to the Children's Hospital of Zaragoza where her condition is now described as stable.

Doctors said she was lucky the horns did not pierce any of her vital organs.

Mayor Alejandro Gil said it had been an unfortunate accident and claimed the authorities had put all necessary safety steps in place at the traditional bull-running festival.

A police probe is underway to determine exactly what happened.
