A CRASH which left two people in hospital has forced the Dartford Crossing to close causing chaos for motorists driving too and from London, this morning.
Drivers have been hit with 90 minute delays and congestion as queues stretch back as far as Romford, Essex and Bexley, south east London.
Both carriageways have ground to a halt as the and the Dartford Tunnel has currently running on contraflow.
Traffic is being diverted through the east bore of the tunnel.
Normal traffic conditions are not expected to resume until after 2pm.
The crossing is the busiest in Britain with over 130,000 people using it every day.

It is also a main thoroughfare for drivers heading to France from London via Dover.
Highways England south east tweeted: #M25 J31 clockwise entry sliproad closed due to closure of the QE2 Bridge at #Dartcharge. Slip road will remain closed until bridge reopens."
A spokeswoman for Essex Police said: "A white BMW 118 hit the barrier on the QEII Bridge at about 2am this morning.
"The woman driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
"Her passenger was also injured and he too has been taken to hospital for treatment. "
She added:"Motorists are thanked for their patience and advised to seek alternative routes where possible.
"Officers are working to reopen the bridge as soon as possible."
A spokesman for Highways England said: "The Queen Elizabeth II bridge is currently closed due to an earlier RTC.
"As a result, the Dartford tunnel is closed anticlockwise to allow traffic from Essex to travel into Kent.
"Please approach with caution and allow extra time for your journey."
A Highways England statement added: "There is currently a height limit of 15ft 9in for traffic using the Dartford tunnel northbound which is continuing to use the west bore of the Dartford Tunnel. Northbound traffic under this height is unaffected."
