Four cops treated by medics after inhaling ‘unknown chemical’ during forced entry to man’s apartment
FOUR cops in Sheffield were treated by medics after inhaling an "unknown chemical" during a forced entry into a man's apartment.
Emergency services were called to a flat in Park Hill on Monday evening after receiving reports that a man had been seriously injured.
Crews from , and the man was given CPR.
However, officers arriving at the flat also fell ill from an "unknown chemical" - and several are now receiving medical attention.
No surrounding flats have been evacuated and there is not believed to be a wider threat to the public, police confirmed.
Fire crews attended the building and are trying to find the source of the "chemical", but cops are happy no "harmful substances" are present.
Police have asked that people do not approach the scene.
A man in his 30s has been transported to Northern General Hospital where he remains in serious condition.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: "Only four police officers and the patient suffered any ill effects from the incident.
"All the officers are recovering while the man remains in a serious condition in hospital.
"We were called to an incident this evening where a man was seriously injured and was given CPR.
"Police officers forced entry to the man’s flat and some started suffering ill effects from an unknown chemical."
He added: "Personnel at the scene have completed all their tests and have declared there is no longer any risk of contamination as no traces of harmful substances were found."
