DOG the Bounty Hunter cried as he recalled his 23-year-old daughter’s death 15 years ago and revealed that the delay in Gabby Petito’s autopsy may be an “act of mercy.”

He exclusively told The Sun last week that the complete details of her death in the crash were not initially passed on, allowing him time to grieve before learning of the full extent of Barbara Katy’s injuries.
“I have never seen the findings of an autopsy take this long to announce,” Dog said of .
“I know that my daughter was killed at the same age and for a few weeks they didn’t tell me that the car actually rolled over on my daughter’s skull.
“So I remember these exact pieces of time when Barbara Katy passed away so I’m glad I didn’t hear that right away.”
Barbara Katy Chapman, who had a four-year-old son, was reportedly in a stolen SUV near her home in Fairbanks, Alaska when it crashed in May 2006.
According to , the SUV rolled off the road, hit some trees, and landed upside down.

The driver, Scott Standefer II, also died in the accident.
State troopers said the pair had tried to use a stolen bank card to rent a room in a nearby resort and suspected drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

There is also not yet a suspect in her death but her fiancé is a person of interest.
"It’s more the mercy of the federal government and the coroner really to go out very slowly,” Dog said of Gabby’s autopsy, claiming that he believed her killing to be more “brutal.”
"If she was suffocated they would have announced that right away,” he alleged.
"I think it’s more than that."

Dog added that if Gabby's death was a “brutal murder” then “people are going to go crazy.”
“I can’t speculate how it happened because I’ve heard that she’d been there a few days before they found her, deceased before they found her so that area has a lot of animals and predators and wildlife,” he said.
“Just like everyone else, I would like to know how she passed.”
It is unclear if the full autopsy results will be released today.
The Teton County coroner’s office is holding a press conference.
However, FBI Denver, which is leading the Gabby case, will reportedly not be involved in the briefing.
Internet sleuths now fear Gabby may have suffered a gruesome death following comments her stepdad made in a recent TV interview about her "torso."
The wild claim centers on remarks , when he was speaking to Dr. Phil about a small cross made of stones that he left where Gabby was found.
”It was exactly where they found her," Schmidt said at the time.
"So, I laid the cross directly over where her torso was. I was told the direction in which her head was laying and that’s where I placed two flowers in the ground right where her head was.”
