Five people including a pregnant woman murdered by intruder in ‘one of the most gruesome crimes’ police have seen in Alabama
Derrick Dearman turned himself into police with a woman and a four-month-old baby the only survivors of the attack
A FOUR-month-old child is one of the only survivors of a massacre that killed five people, including a pregnant woman, with Alabama authorities describing the murder scene as one of the worst they have ever seen.
Derrick Ryan Dearman turned himself in to authorities when five bodies were found in a Citronelle home with evidence since suggesting the murders were committed with "multiple weapons", including a gun.
The 27-year-old has now been charged with six counts of capital murder as police begin to try to piece together what happened.
A woman and a four-month-old baby were the sole survivors.
Reuters reported that a woman had walked into a Citronelle police station on Saturday afternoon, telling officers that she had been kidnapped the previous night.
She said she had managed to escape her captor but several other people had been killed.

He said: "Given the way the scene looks, we're going to be here a couple of days.
"It's obviously a horrific scene."
The relationship between Dearman and his victims has not yet been confirmed but it is understood Dearman knew at least one of the victims, .
The victims are believed to be related with one of the women about five months pregnant.
Detectives are now examining the home, in the area of Prine and Jim Platt Roads.
