Cops and another person on the water rescued the family of four just before 11.00pm local time.

Speaking to , mum Tammy Brossard broke down as she remembered the traumatic ordeal her family went through, saying: "God was with us.

"Our boat hit the corner of the power lines and we all ejected."

The family had been returning home from dinner when their boat crashed into a wire holding a telephone pole up.

Shaken mum Tammy told how she was launched into the water with her husband and two children – an infant named Charlotte and 23-month-old Kennedy.

Tammy frantically searched for her kids in the dark: "I had Charlotte in my hands still and the boat had flipped and I climbed on top of the boat.

She said she grew hysterical when she couldn’t find toddler Kennedy.

"I jumped in the water and we tried to search," she said.

"We couldn't tell where the crying was coming from.

"We kept searching and searching."

Dorothy Dixon was boating nearby when she witnessed the incident.

She told Click Orlando: "We grabbed them and momma kept swimming and looking.

"The mom and dad did everything they could.

"They were looking under the boat."

Tammy was miraculously able to salvage her waterlogged mobile phone and called emergency services, begging the dispatcher for help.

Cops were quick to arrive on the scene, immediately pulling the distraught parents and baby Charlotte to safety, before continuing the search for missing toddler Kennedy.

For a time, they could hear her crying, but had no idea where it was coming from.

When a helicopter at the scene also failed to spot the tot, they realised she was trapped under the boat.

Officials dived into the water to rescue baby Kennedy – an extremely challenging mission given they didn’t have life jackets or oxygen tanks.

After approximately 45 minutes, the team managed to recover Kennedy, who was shaken but uninjured.

A spokesman for the Cocoa Police Department said: "Officer Rush and Worthy pulled the child out from under the boat and got her to paramedics for treatment.

"Usually, instances like this don't turn out like that.

"A boating accident that severe, with that much damage, could've been a lot worse.

"The air pocket in the boat and the life jacket saved her life."

The Florida Wildlife Commission is handling the crash investigation.
