Gay couples also conform to sexist gender roles, research finds
TWO thirds of adults feel cooking and shopping is a job for the more feminine partner in a relationship
GAY couples apply the same gender stereotypes as straight ones, a study reveals.
It found 66 per cent of 1,000 adults believed the more feminine partner should do the shopping, while the other does 'manly' jobs such as DIY and outdoor chores.
Some 61 per cent also deemed cooking their responsibility, while 58 per cent reckoned they should clean the house.
Meanwhile, 67 per cent believed the more masculine partner should look after the car.
US sociologist Natasha Quadlin said: "Sex was by far the strongest determinant of which tasks people assigned to each spouse in heterosexual couples.
"But, surprisingly, that theme extended to same sex couples.
