After videos emerged of the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, former United States Marine Ray Epps has been at the centre of conspiracy theories.

More than two-and-a-half years on from the events in Washington, D.C, the former Donald Trump supporter was charged with disorderly conduct before pleading guilty in September 2023.

Who is Ray Epps?

Ray Epps is a former United States Marine and Oath Keepers chapter president who is best known for being a target of Capitol riot conspiracy theories.

A resident of Queen Creek, Arizona, Epps is also the owner of the Knotty Barn wedding venue.

The information on the website says Epps grew up on a cattle farm, spending most of his career as a contractor.

His work led him to Las Vegas where he met his future wife, Robyn, who hired Epps to fix the leaker roof at apartments owned by her employer.

Did Ray Epps storm the Capitol Building?

In a House oversight hearing on October 21, 2021, Attorney General Merrick Garland testified about the January 6 Capitol riots.

U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky questioned Garland about a video shown from the riots that appear to show Epps advocating for people to go into the Capitol.
