Cops hunt driver who ploughed 4×4 into front of a HOUSE after colliding with Volkswagen Polo

 

POLICE are hunting a driver after a 4x4 collided with another car before ploughing into the front of a house.

Cops believe the man fled the scene after crashing into a Volkswagen Polo before slamming into the property in D'Eyncourt Road, Wednesfield, West Mids.

Two women who were in the other car were treated at the scene by paramedics but didn't require hospital treatment following the incident at 6.30pm last night.

Firefighters rushed to the scene after being called by police and had to use a winch to tow the car out of the front property.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: "Fortunately the two women in the (Volkswagen) car didn't suffer any injuries.

"We were called to help in assessing the structure of the house.";

Dramatic pictures showed the grey vehicle embedded in the front of the semi-detached home.

Bricks and other debris can be seen scattered around the driveway, with a wall partially collapsed on the 4x4’s bonnet.

Resident Nigel Smith, 35, told the : "We had just popped back at around 6.30pm when we saw all the police and the car through the house.

"Thankfully no one was in the house at the time, otherwise it would have been a different outcome."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "Police were alerted just after 6.30pm on Sunday (21 August) to a collision in D'Eyncourt Road, Wednesfield, that saw a 4x4 crash into the side of a house.

"It's understood the driver – described by witnesses as a black man, skinny build and in his late teens or 20s – collided with another vehicle before hitting the house.

"He fled the scene and efforts are ongoing to trace him.

"Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call the 101 number quoting log number 1930 21/8."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called just after 6.30pm.

"Two women were assessed by ambulance staff. Neither required hospital treatment.";
