1,200 need treatment from medics with 40 sent to hospital from V Festival sites as cops nick 35
Medics treated 1,218 fans at this year's V Festival with 40 having to go to hospital, ambulance chiefs say.
They were looked after by NHS doctors, nurses, volunteers and St Johns Ambulance on-site.
Ambulance chiefs said the need for emergency medical care was "inevitable" with so many people in one place. The effort was hailed as a "smooth and successful operation".
Police arrested 35 people, mostly for drugs, public order and assaults. In total 64 crimes were reported, including sexual offences.
Superintendent Elliott Sharrard-Williams of Staffs Police said the level of crime had been similar to the previous year, despite 25,000 more people attending per day.
The festival is held at Weston Park in Staffordshire and Hylands Park in Chelmsford, Essex, with acts swapping over venues each night.
It was a wet weekend for much of the UK, and tens of thousands of festival goers had to pull on their wellies for both muddy days.
Justin Bieber and Rihanna headlined. Other acts included Sia, Little Mix, and The Kaiser Chiefs.
