Man seriously injured after being stabbed in the chest with a sword in front of horrified shoppers

A MAN has been seriously injured after being brutally stabbed in the chest with a sword in front of horrified shoppers at a retail car park.
The 36-year-old victim was attacked by another man this evening outside the Hunts Cross Shopping Park in Liverpool.
Witnesses claimed he had been “chased” around the car park before running into a homeware shop in an attempt to escape his assailant.
Cops confirmed he was stabbed in the chest during an “altercation” and taken to hospital where he is now said to be in a “serious condition”.
The attacker is believed to have fled on foot.

An eyewitness said the assailant was armed with a machete.
Another said he “hit cars with a sword”.
A woman working nearby added: “I heard a man was stabbed and he ran in the carpet shop for safety.
“I didn’t see him going in but an ambulance came and I saw someone coming out with an oxygen mask on.”
Less than an hour after the attack – which happened just after 5.30pm – there were reports of police in the Goswell Street area of Wavertree.
Residents described seeing “armed” officers going into one of the houses.
A 38-year-old man from Wavertree was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 26-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting an offender.
A sword has been seized.
An area of Hunts Cross Shopping Park was cordoned off while Crime Scene Investigators carried out forensic examinations.
House-to-house inquiries were being carried out and detectives are examining CCTV coverage.
Det Insp Steve Christian said: "The shopping park around Asda and United Carpets would have been busy at this time of day as people shopped after work and I would urge anyone who has any information which could help us find those responsible to come forward as soon as possible."
