Alicante pervert offered British female tourists free accommodation in his flat so he could film them stripping off with a secret camera
Spanish police say man had 'dozens of hours' of footage of unsuspecting women who had been videoed without their knowledge
POLICE in Alicante have arrested a pervert who offered tourists free accommodation in his flat so he could film them with a secret camera.
The man allegedly installed two spy cameras in a bedroom and a bathroom which he used to film at least 10 victims.
The holidaymakers he targeted are said to be from all around the world and it is not known if Brits are among them.
The 41-year-old's secret filming at his home in the Spanish resort was discovered when a woman alerted police last week.
She reported the alleged perpetrator because she suspected she had been videoed without her knowledge.
Police said the man had dozens of hours of footage stored on two memory cards.
They have not ruled out the possibility they will identify more victims as they go through the evidence.
The Spanish detainee is understood to have offered free lodging through an unnamed accommodation website.
A spokesman for Spain’s National Police confirmed: “The detainee is a 41-year-old man who registered on an accommodation exchange site on the internet to welcome tourists from around the world.
“In his house in the centre of Alicante he had installed two spy cameras in the bathroom and a bedroom which he used to film hours of footage of at least ten victims.
“The investigation was launched last week thanks to a complaint from a woman who suspected she had been filmed while she was holidaying in the city.
“She was spending a few days at the apartment with another person and had the feeling they were being filmed without their consent in several of the rooms in the flat.
“The material seized is still being analysed to see if other possible victims are found in the video footage.”
