IMPOSTER COP PREDATOR

Man ‘posed as police officer’ and demanded to stop and search young girls

Man claimed to be an undercover officer in two separate attacks

A FAKE cop who approached young girls and demanded to "stop and search" them has been bailed.

At least three young girls were approached by the man, who claimed to be an undercover officer, in two separate "sexually motivated" attacks.

One of the girls was reportedly searched by the man, while two others told police they had been stopped by the imposter.

A 58-year-old was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on a female and was taken into custody for questioning yesterday.

He has since been bailed until October 18 while police investigate further.

Hampshire police have not gone into further details of the attacks.

A spokesman said: "A 58-year-old man arrested in connection with suspicious incidents in East Cowes and Freshwater on Saturday has been bailed until Oct 18, 2016.

We're continuing to investigate the incidents and are reminding parents, carers and young people on the Isle of Wight to remain alert."

Detective Inspector Gareth Jones said: "We want to remind children that a genuine police officer would not identify themselves as working undercover.

"A police officer would need to show his or her warrant card and only carry out the search under strict conditions."

Cops are trying to trace a man and a woman who were walking a white dog in a cemetery in East Cowes on Saturday between 8pm and 9pm.

Last month, a Somali migrant described as "every parents worst nightmare" was caged for 17 years for posing as an undercover police officer in an attempt to capture five schoolgirls.

Abdi Waise planned to lure the girls - all aged between 11 and 14 - into residential areas on the pretence of searching them for drugs.

Sick Waise even tried to get a group of schoolboys to help him on one occasion in Crouch End, north London, by offering them money to use poppers on the girl.

Waise told them the substance would make the girl faint and they could do whatever they wanted to her afterwards.

When they refused he found another target nearby, convincing the girl he knew her mother and that she should come to his house for breakfast.

She eventually managed to run away, despite his attempts to pull her back.
