Brit woman jailed for joining ISIS says: ‘I should have gone on holiday & come back’

THE first British woman to be jailed for joining IS told an interviewer: “I should have gone on holiday and come back.”

Tareena Shakil, 32, dubbed the Towie Jihadi over her love of the reality show, took her son, one, to Syria to become part of the cult.

Shakil, who let him be pictured next to an AK47, got six years in 2016 for joining IS in 2014.

In her first interview since her release in 2019, she said: “If I could go back, I would have gone to Turkey on holiday and I would have come back.”

The former health worker, from Birmingham, claimed that at the time she was “far from the best version of myself”.

She made the comments in last night’s ITV documentary Tareena: Return from ISIS.
