Tom Watson takes dig at leader Jeremy Corbyn over ‘Traingate’ row
Virgin Trains had hit back at Labour leader Corbyn this week exposing his PR stunt over a 'packed' carriage as a lie
LABOUR leader Jeremy Corbyn was trolled on Twitter by his deputy Tom Watson yesterday over the “Traingate” row with Virgin trains.
Mr Watson wrote on the social network site: “There a [sic] those that choose to be seated and those that sit on floors. A brief history of chairs.”
The tweet was accompanied by a link to on the website of quarterly literary mag the Paris Review.
Mr Corbyn, 67, sparked fury this week, after he was caught lying seven times over why he sat down in a corridor on a Virgin train.
On Wednesday the arch lefty finally admitted he sat there so he could sit with his wife Laura Alvarez but could not find two places together.
The row erupted after he was filmed sitting in a corridor on Virgin’s 11am London to Newcastle train complaining it was “completely ram-packed”.
Mr Watson’s tweet came as a YouGov survey of general election voting intentions show Labour have dropped a point following “Traingate”.
The Tories polled at 40 per cent, up two points on a week ago, while Labour is on 29 per cent, down one per cent.
And in a further blow to Mr Corbyn, pollsters also found 50 per cent of voters believe Theresa May is the best Prime Minister, when given a choice between her and Mr Corbyn.
While just 19 per cent gave the Labour leader the nod and 31 per cent said they don't know.
