IS there any limit to smug tycoon Sir Philip Green’s arrogance?
While authorities probe the mess he made of BHS and anxious staff fret about their jobs and pensions, Green has spent the summer cruising around the Med on his £100million superyacht.
Green promised to “sort” the BHS pension scheme in June, yet the £571million hole remains unfilled.
And, as the last 22 BHS stores closed this weekend, Sir Shifty had the cheek to try and wriggle out of an investigation into his shameful dealings.
A proud British high street institution now lies in ruins and the man responsible has demonstrated time and again he simply doesn’t care.
It’s imperative the pensions watchdog rejects out of hand any efforts to cut a deal.
Green is trying to keep his wife – who controls the family fortune – out of the firing line.
But the probe by the regulator must reach its conclusion, if only to deter future attempts at asset stripping successful companies.
It’s also time to end the wrangling over the BHS pension deficit.
The Greens drew an estimated £400million in dividends from the business and can afford to plug the gap created by their despicable ownership.
Sir Philip has lost the respect of his peers in business, he’s lost most of his celebrity pals, and - if he continues to fight against paying the debt he owes - he should lose his knighthood.
More importantly 11,000 BHS workers have lost their jobs.
It should never be allowed to happen again.

NO killer should be able to harass their victim’s family from behind bars.
Yet vile Lewis Daynes, who’s serving 25 years for grooming and murdering young Breck Bednar, has posted a series of blogs taunting his victim’s grieving mother.
Shockingly, the police and prison service have refused to act, and Google only suggested she resolve the dispute with her son’s killer.
Warped lags like Daynes should have their internet use limited and closely monitored, and internet companies like Google must immediately remove any offending articles.
Time for all to take responsibility.
