Jack the Ripper fled to Yorkshire to carry on his killing spree, new book claims
Author claims suspect returned to his hometown of Hull before murdering second wife
JACK the Ripper fled to Hull after terrorising the streets of London and continued his murder spree, a new book has claimed.
Historian Mike Covell claims to solved the infamous mystery and identified the Ripper as Yorkshireman, Fred Deeming.
Mike said he has found evidence showing that Deeming was living alone in London at the time Jack the Ripper was murdering prostitutes.
He claims that Deeming fled back to his home town of Hull as public interest in the gruesome killings grew.
Deeming later murdered his second wife before fleeing to Australia, where he was hanged for killing another wife.
Deeming's name has appeared in contemporary police reports about the Jack the Ripper murders.
If he was responsible for the London crimes it would make him Yorkshire's first Ripper - ahead of Peter Sutcliffe who was convicted of murdering 13 women in 1981.
Sutcliffe has recently been moved to the high-security Frankland prison after 32-years inside Broadmoor psychiatric hospital.
