She attended Brigham Young University in Utah and Arizona State University, where she also has taught before.
Sinema is a defense attorney and social worker and aims to help families in Arizona who went through the same hardships that her family did when she was a child, growing up homeless for a period of time.

In 2018, Sinema became the first woman, and Democrat, in Arizona history to represent the state in the Senate.

Is Kyrsten Sinema running for re-election in Arizona?
On March 5, 2024, Sinema revealed she would not be running for re-election.
“Because I choose civility, understanding, listening, working together to get stuff done, I will leave the Senate at the end of this year,” she posted on her X account.
“Compromise is a dirty word. We’ve arrived at that crossroad, and we chose anger and division. I believe in my approach, but it’s not what America wants right now,” Sinema added.
Republican Kari Lake and Democrat Ruben Gallego will fight to fill Sinema’s seat.
