Urgent manhunt launched after woman said she was raped by man who walked her home after night out
POLICE have launched an urgent manhunt after a woman was raped by a man who walked her home after a night out.
An area of woodland in Sittingbourne, Kent, was sealed off by forensics today after the victim reported the assault.
The alleged rape took place between Harrier Drive and Osprey Court in the early hours of this morning.
It is reported that a young woman had been out with friends and was walked home by a man she had met earlier in the evening.
It is believed that this man raped her on the journey home.
Police have seized CCTV from the area and have cordoned off the area so a forensic examination can be performed at the scene.
One local resident told : "This is a very quiet area, with no through road for traffic.
"I've spoken with neighbours who didn't hear anything [during the night]."

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
