Dad can’t compete with neighbour’s 30ft tree… puts up funny Christmas decoration in response
A DAD who says he couldn’t compete with his neighbour’s 30ft illuminated tree put up a funny Christmas decoration in response.
Tom Durrant spent £150 on chicken wire and lights to create a sign outside his home saying “DITTO”, with an arrow pointing to the tree.
Property marketing expert Tom, 35, left, of Sandhurst, Berks, said: “I thought I’d be a bit cheeky.
"My wife was a bit embarrassed and my five-year-old son thought ‘ditto’ was a swear word.
"But I’ve found it funny and so have locals.
"Thankfully, so have my neighbours.”

Paid to eat sprouts
By James Somper
TECHNICAL manager Ben Harrison reckons his job is a gas — he eats Brussels sprouts for a living.
Ben, 26, happily munches up to 50 of the Christmas favourites (for some) a day as a taster for Asda.
He visits suppliers to try more than 15 varieties, and said: “Eating them is the best part of my job!
“Spotting the small differences in tastes between varieties isn’t easy but it’s essential to give customers the best sprouts.”
Ben, from Leeds, who studied food nutrition at university, is hoping more people will start eating sprouts outside the festive season.
As to the “Marmite” veg at Christmas, he insists: “They’re the best thing on the plate! Just ahead of pigs in blankets.”
