Star Hobson’s evil mum moaned on phone & is ‘upset’ after hearing jail sentence could be increased over tot’s death

STAR Hobson's evil mum whinged after hearing her jail sentence could be increased over the tot's horror death, it is reported.

Frankie Smith, 20, moaned on the phone to her grandad David Fawcett from her cell after she was caged for eight years over her baby daughter's brutal death.

Smith's girlfriend, Savannah Brockhill, 28, was jailed for life for stamping her lover's 16-month-old daughter to death.

Brockhill inflicted "utterly catastrophic" injuries on Star after waging a campaign of brutal emotional and physical abuse.

The Attorney General has now been asked to review the sentences of the two women under the "unduly lenient sentence" scheme.

David, 61 – one of two relatives still in touch with Smith – said his granddaughter was "upset" after hearing her jail term could be increased.

He told the : "She phoned me on Thursday and she’s a little upset because they’re reviewing the sentence. People don’t think eight years is long enough.

"She’s upset about it, to be honest. She’s lost a daughter and has to live with that for the rest of her life, that’s all she talks about."

Star died in hospital from blood loss after her inferior vena cava - the largest vein in the body - was torn.

Medics said her injuries were usually only seen in car crash victims and had been caused by either "punches, kicks or stamps".

The tragic tot had also suffered a severe skull fracture and several other fractures to her tibia and ribs leading up to the fatal attack in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

Star's mum Smith was cleared of murder but convicted of causing or allowing the death of a child.

She was jailed for just eight years for the offence, which carries a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison.

Evil Brockhill was caged for life with a minimum of 25 years after she was found guilty of murdering the tragic tot.

The self-styled "No1 Psycho" laughed at the sentencing and smiled and made a heart gesture to her family when she entered the court.

Mrs Justice Lambert slammed the pair for tarnishing Star's short life with "neglect, cruelty and injury".

'A MARKED WOMAN'

Smith is now in a single cell in the same women’s jail as mass murderer Rose West, according to the Sunday People.

She will serve her sentence on the Willow House wing of New Hall prison near Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

A source said: "She’s a marked woman and it won’t be long before someone gets to her.

"She’s on the lifers’ wing so there are plenty of women with very little to lose who will attack her for the price of a few chocolate bars or toiletries."

Grandfather David plans to visit Smith in jail after Christmas - but he admits their contact has caused conflict.

He said: "The family are torn. I’m also getting a lot of grief from members of the family so I have to run that gauntlet a bit.

"We were always close, like father and daughter. It’s like losing two of them – Star and Frankie. Up until 18 Frankie was brilliant.

"She lived with us for two years, Anita taught her to cook – we never had an argument.

"When Savannah came along everything changed. She got into Frankie’s head and turned her into this vile nasty person. It’s awful."

It comes after it emerged that Brockhill was revived twice in jail before her trial — but her victim’s family say she should have been left to die.

She collapsed while on remand and was found face down after a 90-minute seizure two days before facing murder charges for battering Star.

The amateur boxer suffered two cardiac arrests — but was revived each time by medics, who performed lifesaving CPR on her.

Star’s great-grandad Frank Smith, 68, told the Sun on Sunday: "I wish they had let her die. Star’s injuries were so horrific they couldn’t revive her. And yet, Brockhill is saved. How unfair is that?"

SAFEGUARDING REVIEW

A safeguarding practice review has been launched into Star's death, which came just weeks after the horrific murder of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes.

In a chilling echo of the six-year-old's death, there were five opportunities to save Star but the family's concerns were ignored by social workers and police.

Boris Johnson has vowed that action will be taken to stop such "shocking and heartbreaking" tragedies in future.

At the sentencing, a powerful victim impact statement was read by Star's great-grandmother Anita Smith, who had warned social workers: "Do you want another Baby P?"

She told how Star's smile would "light up a room" and revealed how she "thrived" in the ten weeks she cared for her.

Anita added: "Her death was devastating. Her pain was so unnecessary when we were all here willing to look after her.

"All I want is Star back, I know there is nothing anyone can say or do to change what happened but it doesn't stop me praying every day.
