Louise Minchin’s stalker jailed after threatening to rape her daughter in sickening campaign of abuse

LOUISE Minchin's stalker has today been jailed after threatening to rape her daughter in a sickening campaign of abuse.

Carl Davies, 44, bombarded the ex-BBC Breakfast host with abusive messages on Instagram - leaving the I'm a Celebrity star in a "constant state of anxiety".

The ex-soldier also targeted Louise's 19-year-old daughter Mia during the campaign of harassment.

He told Louise "Move or you're f***ed" in one harrowing message and said in another: "Your daughter will definitely be raped".

Davies accompanied the threat with information on their home address, the village they lived in and the cars in their driveway at the time.

He has now been sentenced to two years and eight months after admitting causing alarm or distress in July 2020.

The creep was handed a lifetime restraining order in 2019 for threatening to stab and burn his ex-girlfriend, Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts.

He set up 35 fake social media accounts to send thousands of Twitter and Instagram messages to the pop star before targeting Louise 11 months later.

Mold Crown Court heard how Louise and her family were left "terrified" by the messages.

A statement said: "A year later, we are still extra cautious; we still don't feel safe and possibly never will.

"I couldn't sleep, and would jump at the slightest noise. We had to make changes to our lives - where we walk, where we'd go for a run.

"We no longer felt safe in our home or anywhere else."

She also said she felt "desperate and helpless" that threats were made against her daughter and feels she could not protect her.

The breakfast host added: "We are both still traumatised by what has been a harrowing experience."

Davies targeted Louise and her family using the pseudonym "Bobby Martini".

'DISTURBING'

He told the presenter she led a "privileged BBC brat life" over three days of torment.

Mia, who was managing the accounts at the time, read many of the threats against her and her mum.

The court was told Davies, who served time in Iraq, was living with untreated post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at the time.

Sentencing, Judge Nicola Saffman said: "Everyone has heard the full, graphic and disturbing detail of the messages you sent to Louise Minchin and her daughter.

"It is clear they believed you would carry out your threats because of the level of detail in your messages."

As well as a jail term, he has been given an indefinite restraining order prohibiting him from contacting Louise and her daughter.

In a statement issued after the case, Louise said: ";The sentencing today of a man who made horrific threats online against my daughter and I marks the end of what has been a very distressing time for both of us.

"I would like to thank North Wales Police and the Crown Prosecution Service for their hard work and for successfully investigating and prosecuting the case.

"I hope it sends a clear message that people who make violent threats on social media can be found, can be prosecuted and can expect a prison sentence."
