Ofsted chief slams PC councils who ‘get in the way’ of shutting illegal Muslim schools
Sir Michael Wilshaw claims some councils actively stop him from preventing children being taught in unregistered schools
OFSTED’S chief has blasted politically correct councils for “getting in the way” of shutting illegal Muslim schools.
Sir Michael Wilshaw said they fear upsetting community relations.
He claimed some actively stop him preventing children being taught in unregistered schools.
Cities and towns such as Birmingham, Bradford and Luton must recognise their duty in protecting children, he said.
Ofsted is preparing to take six schools to court but cases may collapse.

Sir Michael said in The Times: “Some of our lawyers are saying that our cases are very robust.
“But what the courts might say is that the local authority has been into some of these places but don’t want to upset community relations, so they ignore it.”
He added: “They have to see this as a serious problem, identify where these places are and close them down.”
