'IT'S WORSE THAN BEING IN MOURNING'

Grandmother’s grief over gentle 11-year-old brainwashed by Brit mum Sally Jones into becoming an ISIS killer

Joe was spotted in an ISIS video executing prisoners, horrifying his British family who fear for the 11-year-old's safety

THE family of British mother turned ISIS fanatic Sally Jones has spoken out of their grief over their 11-year-old grandson who they believe has been brain-washed to join the terror group.

Desperate family and friends of Joe have watched in horror as the little boy who once loved reading encyclopedias and adored animals so much that he would "never even treat on an ant" appeared to feature in an ISIS propaganda video where children were involved in the mass execution of prisoners.

The young boy, who is believed to have been taken to Syria about three years ago by his mother, was the youngest child of 47-year-old ISIS convert Sally Jones.

Jones is believed fled to Syria after marrying Birmingham Jihadi Junaid Hussain — a man 25 years her junior.

Mother and son are believed to have lived in Syria in 2013 but the family and friends of the pair have now spoken out over their horror that the young boy has potentially been absorbed into the terrifying jihadi - a world far away from Joe's first years growing up in Kent.

Her grandmother told a friend: "I feel sick to the stomach" after seeing the horrifying video of who the family believes is Joe standing next to other camouflage-clad children about to execute bound prisoners.

Friends have said the family is struggling to come to terms with the horror of knowing Jo has been brain-washed, with one saying: "It's worse than being in mourning.

"They love Joe and miss him but are scared of the forces that have turned him. His grandmother has lost her grandson. She doesn’t think she can do anything to get him back, and even if he does come back he’s not the same boy who went out there."

The members who have spoken out have not released their names for fear of retribution - not only from Jones and her ISIS colleagues but also due to a fear of reprisals back home.

After moving to Syria, Jones changed her name to Sakinah Hussain while her son's named was changed to Hamza.

Becoming a key feature in ISIS propaganda movies, Jones is also known as Umm Hussain Al-Britani.

The young boy's family have now said they fear for Joe, who they believe has been coerced or brainwashed into becoming involved in terror activities.

Joe had travelled to Turkey with his mother in the Christmas school holidays in 2013, with the pair then travelling to Idlib, a town in north-west Syria.

The family then travelled to Raqqa.

The extended family has been able to speak to Joe while he is in Syria but said they were concerned he was not able to speak his mind as his mother was standing over him.

It comes as friends revealed Jones regularly boasted she was a witch and could practise black magic.

The "scatty" mother of two who loved drama grew up in Kent, raised by greengrocer turned lorry driver Alan Jones and his wife Jacky.
