The terrifying footage shows a man following the victim for several minutes.

At about 11pm on Thursday August 18 a man grabbed the woman from behind, held a knife to her cheek and dragged her down an alley.

The woman was able to struggle free and alert police to the attack in Fern Street, Bolton. The man fled the scene.

Footage shows the woman being followed by a man pushing a bike.

He is later seen on another street following her without the bike.

In one particularly chilling moment the man runs to keep up with woman, slowing down behind her.

The man was wearing a baseball cap, a grey short sleeved polo shirt, dark pants and white trainers.

Police have said an investigation has been launched and support is being given to the victim.

Appealing for witnesses to come forward Detective Constable Pam Chandler said: “This was a terrifying experience for the woman and it is fortunate that she was not seriously injured.

“We are keen to speak to the man who was in the area at the time and another woman who we believe may have also been followed.

“We would urge anyone, who recognises the man in the footage or may have information that can help our investigation to come forward.”
