TWO children, including a three-year-old, and an adult were stabbed to death in a Kentucky apartment over the weekend - leaving another adult injured.
Police in responded to the at a home on Overland Ridge shortly after 9pm on Sunday.
Inside, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office officials found two children and two adults with "multiple stab wounds."
The victims were identified as Katie Farrell-Pena, three, Nikki Romero-Pena, 12, and Monique Pena, 31.
The fourth victim, Matthew Farrell, 36, was stabbed in the torso, neck and upper body,
Matthew was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
"This is a relatively quiet area. We have had problems in the past, but in a place so densely populated — a subdivision like this so large — that's certainly not uncommon," Boone County Sheriff’s Office Lt Philip Ridgell said.

"But something to this magnitude is almost unheard of."
Officials said Matthew has since been discharged and is expected to survive his injuries.
Authorities say he is cooperating with the investigation.
Police have not provided any suspect information but confirmed that the incident was "isolated to the residence."
