Apple leaks reveal iPhone 7 ‘airpods’ to replace traditional headphones

ARE you one of THOSE tech fans who spends hundreds of quid on flashy looking headphones?

Then we've got some very bad news: those pricey earphones will probably be totally worthless within a couple of years.

Apple is preparing to unleash the iPhone 7 at a gathering of the faithful at its headquarters on Wednesday September 7.

This year's event is likely to prove highly controversial, as the tech giant is understood to have removed the headphone jack from the device.

This means you'll have to fork out for a pricey dongle if you want to use your lovely old headphones - or pay up for a brand new pair fitted with the correct technology.

There are rumours which suggest Apple is going to provide a dongle in the box as well as a pair of earphones called "earpods", which will connect to the iPhone's lightning connector.

As well as these bog standard earphones, the tech giant is expected to unveil some new Beats headphones at the iPhone launch this Wednesday as well as a dedicated set of Apple called "airpods" which will work wirelessly.

Of course, as with all rumours we'll just have to wait to see whether they turn out to be true.

But we do know one thing: a lot of music fans are going to be annoyed with Apple this week if it renders their pricey headphones useless.
