Missing teen Marnie Clayton, 18, found by cops as man arrested for false imprisonment, assault and threats to kill

A TEEN who vanished after a night out in Windsor has been found more than 25 miles away - as cops arrested a man on suspicion of false imprisonment and assault.

A desperate search began for Marnie Clayton, 18, after she disappeared at 2am on Sunday morning.

The teen was last seen leaving club Atik, but never returned home. She was reported missing at 3am.

A haunting last selfie showing Marnie posing in a bodycon grey dress hours before she disappeared was released as her terrified family waited for news.

Police have now revealed she's now been found safe and well in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, battery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, breach of police bail and making threats to kill.

He was in police custody last night.

MISSING TEEN FOUND

Superintendent Michael Greenwood told of his relief after a huge search effort led cops to Marnie.

He said: “I am delighted to be able to confirm that we have located Marnie safe and well and returned her home to her family, who were naturally extremely concerned for her.

“This outcome is the result of fantastic work from officers and staff from both Thames Valley Police and our colleagues in Hampshire."

He said there have been "hundreds of calls" from members of the public offering information since Marnie vanished.

Their support helped end the "very significant" search, he added.

“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the many thousands of members of the public who shared our appeal to locate her and extend this also to the local and national media," Supt Greenwood said.

“It cannot be underestimated how important the information received was in locating Marnie safe and well.

“I am very proud of all of our officers and staff and colleagues in Hampshire for their work, and also all of the members of our local community who shared appeals and called us with the information which has helped us bring Marnie home.”

Hundreds of people have taken to social media to share their joy after Thames Valley Police posted the "fantastic" news.

One said her "prayers had been answered".

Another said: "This is fantastic. Well done Thames Valley and Hampshire, absolutely brilliant."
