She can then be seen returning to the room with a towel, to make it look like she is still holding the baby.

Speaking to reporters, she said: "It just came to my mind and so I flung him off the balcony.

"I do not know why I did it.

"A voice told me to do it and I followed it.

It was Mr Yadav, who is the guardian of the child and his uncle, who raised the alarm as he could not find the child.

He said: "I had woken up my sister-in-law at around 3.30 am to feed the baby.

"I washed the bottle and she fed him.

"Then we slept but when I woke up again at 5.30 am to check the baby, he was missing.

"I asked her where the baby was but she said she does not know.

"I immediately raised an alarm and called the ward boy.

"We searched for him everywhere but could not find him.
