Rob Goodman, who lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, , from just £79 a night.

The bargain price includes a private two-bed cell with a toilet, "99 acres of exploration at your own risk" and three "fully stocked" fishing ponds - but not much else.

Describing the one-of-a-kind holiday spot on the property rental site, Goodman, a filmmaker, writes: "This is a prison, so think camping... bring necessities.
"The whole idea is to have an experience or even show young ones where they DO NOT want to end up. The fun part is you can leave when you like.

"There are various buildings that used to be used by the correctional facility that are interesting to look at almost like a little museum."

He also warns guests that they will be required to sign a waiver - and that film shoots may occur during their stay at the prison.

Goodman told the  that the prison, which closed in 2012, is now owned by his best friend Geronimos Dimetrelos - who reportedly bought the distinctive property for $850,000 (around £635,000) last summer.

He added that someone has made a booking - but he isn't putting too much effort into promoting the rental.

He said: "We also let them know this is a camping trip. We provide nothing but the prison, that's it. It's no Marriott."
