The Americans arrival marked the turning point in the war against the evil of Hitler's Germany as his forces finally started to be driven back.

Just a year after these startling images were taken the Fuhrer would be dead taking his dream of a thousand-year Reich with him to the grave.

The pictures were colourised by US teenager Jared Enos who has spent the last few years bringing stunningly realistic colour and texture to black-and-white photographs.

The talented 19-year-old from Rhode Island, US, has colourised images of D Day, the fight in the Pacific, the Great Depression and kids playing on a Californian beach in 1900.
