A MAN has been found dead after a 19-hour stand-off with armed cops that saw residents ordered to stay indoors in South Wales.
Locals told how "dozens" of gun-toting police descended on the Llwydcoed area of Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf on Sunday evening.
Residents were urged to stay inside - as cops remained in the area from 4.45pm following reports of a man with a firearm, reports.
Now, police have confirmed that a body has been found inside the house.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: "Officers were called to the address at 4.45pm on Sunday after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man believed to be in possession of a firearm.
"At approximately 11.45am today officers discovered the deceased body of a man inside the address.
"A police cordon remains in place at the location and the scene is being preserved.
"The man’s family are aware and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file of evidence will be put together for the coroner."
The man has not been named.

A resident who lives nearby said the action "seemed to be" close to a woodland at the back of the estate.
Dave Jones wrote on Twitter: "There’s a big woodland at the back of the estate… that’s where the action seems to be."
He added: "Nobody is allowed to leave their houses."
The local Rhondda Cynon Taf council also advised anyone nearby to avoid the area.
A spokesperson said: "Emergency Services currently dealing with an incident in the Llwydcoed area, Aberdare.
"Some roads are temporarily closed. Please avoid the area if possible."
