Imogen Tothill: Body found by police after teen, 17, went missing in woodland
POLICE searching for a missing teenage girl have sadly found a body in woodland.
Imogen Tothill, 17, failed to return home in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, yesterday.
A huge search was launched for the teenager but police confirmed today they had found a body.
They are awaiting formal identification but believe it is missing Imogen.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner, Cheshire Police confirmed.
A spokesman said: "Officers searching for a missing teenage girl from Holmes Chapel have sadly found a body.
"The body was discovered in a wooded area near to Ravenscroft earlier today, Wednesday 9 February.
"Formal identification has not yet taken place, but it is believed to be that of missing teenager Imogen Tothill.
"Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
"Our thoughts are with Imogen’s family at this difficult time."
Officers searched for Imogen overnight after she was reported missing.
Her disappearance was said to be "out of character" as police confirmed they were increasingly confirmed.
