DANGEROUS sex offender Paul Robson has been caught after escaping from prison.
Police feared he could have fled anywhere in the UK before he was finally located after four days - here's why he was jailed.
Who is Paul Robson?
Paul Robson is a convicted sex offender, jailed for life in 2000 for attempted rape and indecent assault.
On the morning of February 13, 2022, Robson was reported missing from HMP North Sea Camp in Boston, Lincolnshire, where he was serving his life sentence.
People were urged not to approach Robson, described as a white male with a bald head, a long goatee beard and of slim build.
The 56-year-old was labelled a "menace to females" at his sentencing at Oxford Crown Court.
He had been in and out of prison for a lifetime of attacks on women and girls as young as eight, before being slapped with a life sentence.
Why was Paul Robson sent to prison?
Robson was given a life sentence in August 2000 by Oxford Crown Court.
The court heard that, while out on licence from a five-year jail term, he crawled into a woman's Oxford city centre home through a cat flap.
Robson then subjected the terrified 23-year-old to a series of attacks, while holding a knife to her throat.
How did Paul Robson escape prison?
During his fifth parole review in February 2021, Robson was refused release but recommended for a move to the Category D open prison.
Robson was reported missing from the complex just before 7am on Sunday, February 13, 2022.
Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox, of Lincolnshire Police, said: “We are urgently seeking the help of the public to find Paul Robson, who absconded from HMP North Sea Camp this morning.
“Whilst he absconded from a prison in Lincolnshire, by now he may be anywhere in the country and as such, I encourage communities around the country to be mindful of this appeal."
Where was Paul Robson caught?
Police confirmed on February 17, 2022, that Robson had finally been caught and was in police custody.
The predator was arrested in the Skegness area at 9.30am - around 20 miles from the prison he escaped from.
