Protesters threaten to pelt Jeff Bezos’ £400m superyacht with eggs over ‘plan to dismantle bridge so it can reach sea’
ANGRY protestors have threatened to pelt Jeff Bezos' £400milion superyacht with eggs amid plans to dismantle a historic bridge so it can sail out to sea.
The Amazon founder has found himself in hot water with locals in Holland while trying to navigate the 400ft vessel down river.
The enormous three-masted Y721 is stuck in a shipping yard in the Netherlands and cannot get under the famous Koningshaven Bridge.
But discussions regarding the dismantling of the beloved 140-year-old bridge in Rotterdam, known locally as 'De Hef' have sparked outrage.
The chronicled landmark, rebuilt after being bombed by the Nazis during WW2, would have to temporarily lose its central section to fit the luxury yacht underneath.
Now locals have vowed to take matters - and eggs - into their own hands in disapproval of the proposal.
They warned an army of protestors would launch rotten eggs and fruit at Bezos' boat if he gets his way.
A petition slamming the "selfish" multi-billionaire has already gained more than 30,000 signatures.

It claims the uber-rich Bezos should have considered how he would have got his superyacht to sea before beginning its construction.
Furious critics have even branded the monster vessel - set to be the world’s largest sailing yacht - a "phallus symbol".
He has already faced jibes that his Blue Origin rocket resembled a penis.
Bezos' voyage to sea has been anything but smooth sailing in the wake of the outrage regarding taking down the national monument.
Officials previously said De Hef would not be dismantled again after it was renovated from 2014 to 2017.
Riled up resident, Pablo Strörmann, 40, hatched the plan to hurl rancid scraps at the shiny new boat and has created a Facebook event dedicated to the cause.
He said: "If your ship doesn't fit under a bridge, you make it smaller.
"But when you happen to be the richest person on Earth apparently you just ask a municipality to dismantle a monument. That's ridiculous.
"Rotterdam was built from the rubble by the people of Rotterdam, and we don't just take that apart for the phallic symbol of a megalomaniac billionaire. Not without a fight."

Bezos - the world’s second richest man – has offered to stump up the cash for the work alongside the boat’s builder, Oceanco.
Rotterdam’s local authority project leader Marcel Walravens said it would not be impractical to complete construction of the yacht elsewhere.
He said: "If you carry out a big job somewhere, you want all your tools in that place. Otherwise, you have to go back and forth constantly.
"In addition, this is such a large project that there are hardly any locations where this work is finished."
A spokeswoman for Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb in Rotterdam previously said that while a shipbuilder has requested temporarily taking apart the bridge this summer, no permit has yet been sought or granted.
The municipality declined to comment on who owns the yacht in question or identify the shipbuilder.
