Greggs superfans snap up new Primark clothing range created with beloved bakery chain – including pants and sliders
GREGGS lovers flocked to Primark on Saturday morning to snap up the clothing giant's new pastry-themed clothing range.
The high street chains have teamed up to launch an 11-piece collection, which has been on sale in 60 Primark stores from today.
You can get matching sweatshirts, sliders and a bucket hat, with the colour palette matching Greggs staff uniform.
A massive queue formed on Northumberland Street in Newcastle city centre before 8am with fans eager not to miss out on the offers.
Many clutched food and drink from Greggs as they waited for the doors to open.
Bakery branded t-shirts, hats, jogging bottoms and trainers flew off the shelves of the cut price clothing giant, with fears the shop may run out.
Only select stores across the UK are offering the range, which will be available while stocks last.
Teenage warehouse operative Edward Finn had undertaken a 12-hour journey from his home town of Worcester to get his hands on a t-shirt with a vegan sausage roll.
The 18-year-old said: "I absolutely love Greggs. It was that important to me to get a Greggs t-shirt.
"The Primark in Worcester isn't selling the range, so I decided to come to Newcastle. I made a 12 hour journey in a storm to get here."
He said he does nightshifts and it's one of the few places that is open when he finishes at about 6am.
"I look forward to getting something hot to eat all through my shift. I love the vegan sausage rolls," he added.
"I will be wearing my new t-shirt to work with pride."
Engineer Liam Turnbull, of Gateshead, was also in the queue early this morning.
He bought himself two t-shirts, one with a vegan sausage roll on it and the other showcasing the bakery's logo and blue branding.
The 33-year-old said: "This collaboration is fantastic for the North East.
"I think it's a really interesting idea and I wanted to be here early because I was worried about missing out.
"I am into designer clothes, and wouldn't usually shop at Primark, but I was happy to make an exception for a couple of Greggs t-shirts. The vegan sausage roll is iconic."
