WORDLE is introducing puzzle fans to a whole new vocabulary.
With US spellings annoying some and words like caulk causing confusion, now fans are asking what "trove" means.
What does trove mean?
The word is often associated with treasure, such as in the phrase "treasure trove".
But a trove can mean a valuable collection of objects or an amuont accumulated. For example, "a rare trove of documents".
The word comes the French trouvé meaning found, in the context of "treasure found".
And it got Twitter talking after becoming the answer to Wordle puzzle #249.
Some Twitter users had fun with the answer, with one tweeting: "A bit tricky! Can only be solved if one have a Trove of fancy words in his vocabulary!"
Another quipped: "A treasure trove of the mind."
One more tweeted: "Wordle is definitely a ‘trove’ of different words."
However, others were not so keen with one asking: "What kind of word is ‘TROVE’?"
Wordle is a web-based word game developed by Welsh-born software engineer Josh Wardle.
The former Reddit employee created the game during lockdown for himself and his wife.
Players have six attempts to guess a five-letter word.
When inputting words, tiles will change colour to help deduce what the word could be.
Orange tiles indicate a letter that is in the word but in the wrong place.
Green tiles show you've got the right letter and positioning.
If a tile goes grey, it isn't in the word and will be marked on the game's onscreen keyboard.
There is a daily challenge for players to solve with statistics totalled up and shown at the end of each game showing your previous number of guess attempts.
